<p>Oooo... I found the most cool site. Pick a picture file on your computer. Picture appears on the webpage (but isn't uploaded). Click anywhere on the pic & it shows a 9x9 block of pixels. Click any pixel & it shows the Color Code: See screenie (in Dropbox) </p><p>Link to site: Get Colors from Image </p><p>It would be a handy way to get a range of colors that go well together, ex from the helm logo. They may not all be HTML colors, but if one isn't, the pixel beside it might be. Easy to check on the w3schools Color Picker page </p>

<p>re. Spoiler collapser buttons in oasis. The buttons are really hard to read because there's hardly any contrast in the brightness of the text color vs button background color. I tried making the text white, but it made the monobook toggle text white :p Is there a way to make the monobook & oasis text colors settings independent of each other? </p>

<p>I removed red spoiler overlays from Anomander. They didn't seem to work very well. </p>

• In Intro section: Mousing over the text causes Spoiler popup, but it isn't clear how a user can get past it. If user happens to mouse over the very end, the name of the link pops up, which kind of spoilerizes the intent. User has to mouse somewhere to find out there's a spoiler pop-up.
• Info box: Unless user puts cursor in just the right position, a mouseover pops up the character's name instead of Spoiler msg, defeating the purpose

<p>The collapsible windows work much better. We are trying to get all spoilers out of the Intro sections & the windows will work well for the other sections. </p>

<p>Just to be clear, we are talking about adding the dropdowns as a replacement for the Spoiler Alert banners, aren't we? It's not something that would be added to every section of every page, is it? o_O </p>

<p>I like the dark text, light background combo, too. The gallery is a good place to look for Malazan color schemes, such as: </p>

<p>I was about to write something but Egwene said what I had in mind in her first 2 paragraphs. A spoiler-free site would be close to useless, but the more spoiler-friendly we become, the more people will rely on us for info. It's important to consider what people respond to. On Reddit, there have been frequent comments like, "Avoid the Wiki. There are spoilers everywhere." Egwene's announcement of the New readers zone was very popular, as was a comment she had made earlier about working toward a spoiler-friendly site. Andorion's announcement on the Spoiler-friendly fan art gallery has been stickied ever since he posted it, 3 months ago. </p><p>re. Dropdowns: They are wonderful. Two points: </p>

• I think if I was new to the Wiki, I would be confused about the reason for dropdowns. How about an addition to the link like "Spoiler Protection. Click here to show/hide section"
• The dropdowns are great on-page, but we'd still need the Spoiler Alias page. Otherwise Bugg would still redirect to Mael, regardless of whether the Bugg info on Mael was hidden.

<p>re. Info boxes: I definitely support removing death info (some include how as well as when). Since Info boxes appear beside the Intro section, they seem safe to the new reader. In my first read, I forced myself to stop looking at them because of death info. An example: Murillio (Fortunately there's no death info in Murillio's Info box—just using him as an example) Even though he's not a major character, it would still be really disappointing for someone reading GotM to see a death entry in his Info box. </p><p>Edit: Experimentally added "Spoiler protection" to the show/hide link on Whirlwind Goddess. Remove it if you don't like it. :) </p>

<p>Re. background of the text box on Spoiler alert pages (ex Darist): I think maybe it could use a lighter color for more contrast between the text color & the background. </p>

<p>I like today's color :) Haven't been on since Fri, so I probably missed some shades. </p>

<p>Lol... Some people would never notice. For those who do, it would probably take 2 or 3 days. I'd probably think I remembered it wrong :p </p><p>It's hard to compare colors online because the shades look different if the tilt of the monitor is changed. Even slouching can do it. </p><p>Just to make you crazy, here's an experiment. I think one reason it's hard to evaluate the page color is the color of the other backgrounds on the oasis homepage. An example is the Navigation/News panel on the homepage. You've been going in a yellowish direction for the page color (which I like). The backgrounds in the Navigation header and panel are too much to the red, so it distracts. Maybe try using the following colors when previewing: </p><p>RIGHT HAND BLOCK, background: FEFBEB </p><p>NAVIGATION header background:  804D00 </p><p>Just quick samples to for seeing the page as a whole </p>

<p>Suggestion: Maybe add Malazan Wiki:User groups to DCT. Not sure where it would fit, but some users would be interested in seeing it. </p><p>@Egwene: Sorry! I misinterpreted the original concept of DCT </p>

I had fallen into using them interchangeably except when quoting what someone said or wrote. </p><p>I almost spewed my coffee at the part where you changed the poll before seeing that you put the votes back in. Personally, I'm happy to not have the option of adding votes, even tho the accuracy could be verified in History. Glad you took care of it as über-lord/lady :) </p>

I generally use monobook & hadn't thought of the oasis background as dark until using the Reply and Preview boxes here on the forum . I vote Yes on the new color

(Fast access to the link) It's easy to stop seeing things we look at all the time— well, for me it is :p </p><p>re. use of DCT as Community Portal: The original intent for DCT was to have a place to discuss issues & coordinate projects specific to the Wiki. It was a way to focus on the Wiki, minimizing extraneous comments. The Community Portal is/was more a 'welcome center'. We need both. As the changes settle out, hopefully the needs will get sorted. Are the Wiki-specific projects & issues migrating to the forum? </p><p>DCT suggestion: New users won't know what oasis is because the Preferences page calls it Wikia. To make DCT info more clear it might help to take the painful step of saying: oasis (Wikia) or oasis (Wikia skin). It's frustrating because naming the skin Wikia added confusion, but new users see no reference to oasis in Prefs. Is there a way to make the Preferences drop-down say: Wikia (oasis) or oasis (Wikia)? </p>
