I think it would be good to have a site-wide policy on linking (at least I don't think we currently have one?!?) </p><p>Linking in general: </p><p>My proposal would be to link all potential links on a page when they first appear, not just those names, places etc. where a page already exists. That way it becomes more obvious which pages are most needed as they will appear in the missing pages reports. It also means that as and when that page is created, all the relevant link will already be in place. </p><p>What do you think? </p>

<p>Malazan fans... you are needed to save Christmas.  </p><p>My brother is a big fan of the series -I am as well but only a few books in!  </p><p>I wanted to get my brother something nice for Christmas so I've commissioned an artist to make a detailed world map for him (which i'll then get turned into a scroll on leather or something). </p><p>Anyway, I wanted to know some of the more prevalent battles / events even characters that effect the story so i can customise the map even more by adding in features - such as Moonspawn over Pale.  </p><p>Only being a few books in try to avoid massive spoilers if you can but im not going to snowflake over it if you cant help it! </p>

<p>Hi, I'm new here and I came in by my phone. I noticed that the mobile site welcome page has ICE's name wrong in the first paragraph. It's listed as Ian C. Cameron. I'm not sure how to fix it, so I thought I'd drop a note here. </p>

<p>I have been pondering quite a bit about how to display info from the trilogy for those who have note yet read the main series. The alias page is proving useful but does not really work when the names are the same as in Dancer and Tayschrenn for example. </p><p>I propose that we create pages for these adding (Path to Ascendancy) in brackets after the name or just an abbreviation (PtA). Then all of the info from the trilogy can go on that page and at the end we can add the alias template where appropriate. On the characters main series page we could simply put the link for the PtA page under the headers. </p><p>Would this work? </p>

<p>Would anyone mind if I changed the name of the Kaminsod article to "Crippled God"? From a spoiler stance, it's always seemed wrong to use this name when it does not get revealed until Dust of Dreams. </p>

<p>I was thinking of putting together a page that will list all of the epigraph authors and their works. I have created an Epigraph authors page with a sortable table. </p><p>Does this look workable? Are there any pitfalls I'm missing? Any more columns needed? I don't think the list will be sortable on mobile. </p>

<p>Hello, Malazan fans! </p><p>I've been working on something I think you'll all find very intriguing: converting articles from this wiki into annotations on xyAnnotations, which can be integrated directly into ebooks and viewed in just about any ebook reader. It's really neat being able to just tap on a name or phrase or location within a book and have the wiki articles already loaded and available to view right there. </p><p>I made a short video demonstrating it in action, and if you'd like to give it a try, I'd recommend starting here. I've also been working on creating annotations from other wikis for these and other popular books. You can see some of the annotations on my xyAnnotations profile. </p><p>As you can see, I've got a large part of the main articles transferred over, thanks to the automated tool I built. However, because it <i>is</i> automated, there are some things that aren't quite right and I'd love to get some help improving the converted annotations. I need to do things like remove annotations that will never be highlighted within books, remove sections that are not relevant in the annotation format, fix searches so that more aliases are highlighted within books, and much more. Additionally, I also need help adding books, their covers, and their metadata to the xyAnnotations books database. </p><p>I'm a moderator on all of the related books and annotation sets on xyAnnotations so I can accept your changes or even make you a moderator as well if you're willing, able, and trustworthy. It'd be great to have some of the trusted members here moderating the related books and sets of annotations on xyAnnotations. There are a lot of books and series and authors I'm working on annotating so it's hard for me to properly manage all of these annotations and books without any help. </p><p>So if any of the Malazan fans or scholars here are interested in helping out, just let me know and I can point you in the right direction. If you're just looking to get these annotations into your ebooks and are having trouble, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help. <p>I only just saw a mail from Fandom saying they will be removing the MonoBook skin due to the Data Protection changes coming into force tomorrow. </p><p>To say I am devastated is an understatement! </p><p>Apparently they can not bring the skin into compliance with the new rules. Seems to me to be a case of 'want not' rather than 'can not'. Given that they knew about the changes coming into force for months and months, giving us a few days notice is pretty inconsiderate. </p><p>I am feeling slightly pole-axed at the moment.... </p>

<p>We've done a lot to transform the site by removing spoilers from article introductions and moving them under book specific headers. The one area I think still needs improvement is in the character infoboxes. There are a number of big spoilers still out there, not even counting the ones that have been obscured with spoiler tags. Those greyed out spoiler boxes are problematic too as there is no way to know at what point in the series it is ok to peek under them. Some characters, like Hedge, are heavily redacted and unsightly. </p><p>Does anyone have a better idea for handling these? Should we follow the same policy on the infoboxes as we do for the intros? </p>

<p>I don't know how many of you occasionally look at the Wikia/Fandom community boards. They currently have an article talking about things that they are looking at over the coming year. Does the concept of "invading races" make sense any more? I think we should not use it for the basis of categorising the various Tiste and the Eleint. Instead just put them in with the other races. Thoughts?

<p>Very low on the list of importance: </p><p>In September, we had a discussion about how we would do ICE references. He hasn't been numbering chapters the way SE does, but instead uses Roman numerals & he numbered RotCG chapters in a completely different way. Anyone interested can see discussion here. We decided to use ICE's system in references for his books. </p><p>In Category:Novels of the Malazan Empire, the chapter numbers are all Arabic numerals. Also RotCG won't work with sequential chapter numbers since ICE restarted the sequence with each book number (see link). I suggest we redo the chapter summary numbers to be consistent with ICE's system so summaries will match the refs in the Wiki. </p><p>I'll change them if people agree with the change. </p>

<p>Hi, I'm very new here, so please excuse me if this obvious or something, but I was wondering if we had 'page status' templates. The one that comes to mind is WIP (a template to place on a page when someone is doing major edits to it), but there a re a number of others.
