Baker was an Avowed member of the Third Company of the Crimson Guard. He had long, tangled ginger hair.[1]
In Return of the Crimson Guard[]
Baker was the first living Avowed Duke K'azz D'Avore met after returning from his imprisonment. K'azz encountered him during the Battle of the Plains on Quon Tali guarding the approach to the Pilgrim Bridge. He was standing amidst the corpses of a failed Kanese amphibious attack. Five other Guardsmen (Cole, Lean, Amatt, Black, and Turgal) stood on the bridge itself where they resisted numerous attacks preventing twenty-nine thousand Kanese soldiers from reinforcing the Malazans.[2]
