Binfun, aka 'Binfun Son of Binfun', was the Royal Torturer of the Kingdom of Farrog. His Torture Chambers were located in the crypts of the Royal Palace of Farrog.[1][2]

In The Fiends of Nightmaria[]

Binfun had been extra busy torturing and executing people since the new King of Farrog, Bauchelain the First, had usurped the Farrogal throne from the previous King. One of King Bauchelain's first acts - in order to prevent possible subversive behavior by the populace - was to order Binfun to put to death the poets, singers, musicians, dancers, actors and other such artists in Farrog.[3][4]

In addition, Binfun was directed to aggressively torture selected individuals to death. Binfun enjoyed his work and could be creative when the more traditional methods of torture were insufficient. He destroyed the face of Sorponce Egol, the actor famous for possessing a "Perfect Profile", and forced the man to look at his work day and night until he gave up living.[2] The Cook at the Royal Palace took exception to the death of her favourite actor by vindictively making the torturer's meals inedible.[2]

The Royal Torturer on occasion could be convinced by an attractive enough bribe[5] or by the pleadings of a beautiful enough woman to a degree of leniency. However, even then, the final end result was to be - as the new King had ordered - still the same for all: death.[2][6] Such was the case with Seneschal Shartorial Infelance's plea for leniency for Steck Marynd. When the torturer could delay Steck's death no longer, the Seneschal first tried to poison Binfun's food. But the torturer's food remained untouched since Binfun knew the cook had overcooked it, so the Seneschal resorted to fatally stabbing Binfun in the chest with his dinner knife.[2]

His last words were a request that the Cook prepare his dinner medium rare next time.[2]
