Carr was a lieutenant in the Jourilan Army of Reform. Once a scholar and acolyte priest from a well-known family, Carr fled the "dogmatic rigidity" of his old life for a commission in the Reform Army.[1]
Young and idealistic, Carr was barely old enough to shave. He wore a rounded iron helmet, a jack of boiled leather, and a thick green winter cloak.[2]
In Stonewielder[]
Lieutenant Carr was tasked with escorting Ivanr, ex-Grand Champion and reluctant recruit, wherever he wanted to go within the Reform Army camp. When Ivanr took up the task of leading the Tenth Company against light cavalry outside of Blight, Carr stood at his side.[3]
By the time the Reformists clashed with Prince Ranur's main force of Imperial cavalry, Carr had been promoted to captain and had already led his own brigade into battle.[4][5]
When Commander Martal fell wounded she directed that leadership of the army be given to Carr.[6]
