Councilman Lim of House Lim was a member of the Darujhistan Noble Council and a political ally of Turban Orr.[1] He was married,[2] although this did not prevent him from being one of Lady Simtal's lovers.[3]
Shardan Lim was his nephew.[4]
In Gardens of the Moon[]
Lim had a rendezvous with his lover and indicated to Lady Simtal that the alchemist Baruk wielded secret power in the city but might tie himself to the council that night (referring to Orr's visit to the alchemist).[5]
Moments later, as he stood with her on a balcony of her estate, the councilman was assassinated by Rallick Nom. Lim was the incidental victim of Rallick Nom's vendetta against Lady Simtal. In order to avenge his friend Coll, who had been ruined by Simtal, Nom had originally intended to kill the Lady herself but under Oponn's influence the assassin switched targets at the last moment. He used a crossbow and an iron headed quarrel the sharp edges of which were covered in poison to kill Lim.[6]
His death led to a standoff in the council and prevented Turban Orr's plans.
In Toll the Hounds[]
Gorlas Vidikas implied that Councilman Lim's full name was Ravyd Lim. He told Murillio that Hanut Orr kept Murillio's name on a list of conspirators involved in the deaths of Ravyd Lim, Turban Orr, and Lady Simtal.[7]
