Felisin Paran was the mother of the Paran siblings and wife of the head of House Paran.[1] She made no personal appearance in the Malazan Book of the Fallen series.

It had been well known that she was gifted with visions.[2] She also had a tendency to self-pity.[3]

In Deadhouse Gates[]

She died sometime after her husband, probably soon after her youngest daughter Felisin was arrested during the Cull but some time before said daughter was transported to the Otataral mines.[4] Her daughter Felisin blamed her death on her sister Tavore.[5]

In Memories of Ice[]

Ganoes was informed of his family's fate by Dujek Onearm. The renegade High Fist informed him that his mother had "elected" to join his father shortly after he died.[6]

In House of Chains[]

She was identified as authoring the Call to Shadow poem that was later continued by her daughter, Felisin. The excerpts that appeared in the epigraphs of several chapters in Gardens of the Moon with the note "Felisin b.1146" appeared to have been written by the younger Felisin.[7]

Gamet, former captain of the Paran house guard, recalled the days of the Cull. The Paran children's mother and father had been arrested while Gamet and twelve guards remained behind to protect Felisin.[8]
