Interpretation of The Snake by Puck

The Snake, also known as the Chal Managal, was a group of refugee children who had escaped from the righteous wrath of those they called the Quitters. The children originated from all over the eastern part of the continent of Lether, amongst other Korbanse, Krosis Kanros, the Isles of Otpelas, Stet, Okan as well as Kolanse (unclear if region or city was indicated).[1]

Several groups of child refugees, escaping the ruins of their homelands, encountered each other on the edge of the Elan Plain. One of these was Badalle's group which had come up from the south of the region. The groups merged and the tallest of the children, a boy called Rutt who had come from Kolanse, became their leader by default. The children then followed him through the Elan Plain. Each morning when they set off, they left behind scores who had either died or were too weak to continue, with more of them dying during the march.[1]

Eventually, the Snake found its way to Icarias, a city built by Icarium, but long abandoned near the heart of the Glass Desert. There, they found food and water, regaining some of their strength before setting out again.[2][3]

In The Crippled God[]

The Snake eventually found the severely dehydrated Bonehunters who gave the children some of their last food and water. They were later adopted by the Khundryl Burned Tears.

Notable Members[]

The Snake was a manifestation of the goddess D'rek.[4]
