Galdan was a drunken former soldier who lived on the streets of Abara Delack. He was also the father of Orfantal.

When he first met Sandalath Drukorlat, Galdan charmed her by claiming to be a war hero who lost his arm defending one of the Sons of Darkness. By the time Orfantal's grandmother, Nerys Drukorlat, discovered Galdan was not who he claimed to be and had actually lost the arm to a horse bite before ever seeing service, it was too late. Sandalath gave birth to a bastard child and Nerys paid Galdan to stay away.[1]

Sandalath was told Galdan had been exiled into the lands of the Jaghut where he had died under unknown circumstances. Not content with the fiction used to spare her own feelings she painted Galdan as a hero to Orfantal. Galdan was a man combining the best characteristics of Anomander Rake, Silchas Ruin, and Andarist who had fought a great battle against the Jheleck and died when betrayed while defending his lord.[2]

In Forge of Darkness[]

In reality Galdan was not far away, content to use Drukorlat coin to maintain a corner in the village tavern's root cellar and drink his days away.[3] When Urusander's Legion occupied Abara Delack, cutting off his wine supply, Galdan vowed to follow Sandalath to Dracons Hold and reclaim his love.[4]
