Hegest was a member of the Liberators, an anti-Tiste Andii insurgent group in Black Coral. He had been a palace retainer of the Pannion Seer in the days of the Pannion Domin.[1] Hegest did not balk from using bloody violence to achieve his ends.[2]
In Toll the Hounds[]
Seerdomin discovered the existence of the Liberators and set about eliminating the group. He found four members meeting in the ruins of the Pannion Seer's old keep. Seerdomin used his tulwar to kill all those attending except for the weeping Hegest, who he promised a more merciful death than Hegest's own victims in return for answering all of his questions about the group. Seerdomin then killed Hegest, as Seerdomin had made it his personal crusade to kill all of the Liberators in Black Coral before they could destroy the existing peaceful status quo.[3]
