Hegil Lesour 'an 'al was commander of the cavalry of the Jourilan Army of Reform. He was a Jourilan aristocrat and formerly a veteran officer in the Jourilan army.
He was described as "middle-aged, bearded, well dressed in a tailored shirt and jacket of the kind once fashionable in the Jourilan courts".[1] His head was rubbed nearly bald by the helmet he had worn for most of his adult life.[2]
Hegil was among those closest to Beneth, the Reform Army's spiritual leader.
In Stonewielder[]
As the Reform Army marched across Jourilan, Hegil's cavalry defended the peasants against attacks from Imperial light cavalry.[3] But his horsemen were greatly outnumbered and by the time they engaged Prince Ranur's forces near Ring he was forced to fight on foot.[4]
