Jelarkan's Palace, ancestral home to the city of Capustan's princes.

It was an alien structure built of grey stone in a confusing collection of chaotic planes, angles, and overhangs. Its thin unprotected walls, lack of windows or flat rooftops, and single entrance gate made it a poor defensive fortification. But its imposing presence made it attractive as a symbol of rule. Generations of princes has added some protective features, such as guardhouses near the entrance, but the walls were too weak to be added to. The stone of the palace itself rejected attempts to take mortar resulting in the collapse of additions.

"The ramp leading to Jelarkan's Palace's narrow, arched gateway was unoccupied, swept clean. The gates themselves had been shattered. Faint Torchlight glimmered from the antechamber immediately beyond. Not a single soldier stood on the walls or revetments." [650, Memories of Ice UKBantem Edition 2002]

"Therewere four entrances to Jelarkan's main hall. The double doors facing the gate on the side of the antechamber, two flanking portals in the chamber itself that lead to guest and guard rooms, and a narrow, curtain-shielded passage directly behind the prince's throne" [651, Memories of Ice UKBantem Edition 2002]

The antichamber itself leading to the throne room was a "squarish, high-ceilinged room,"lit by torches high on the walls. This lead onto a braud hallway leading to the throneroom. Twin doors lead to the throneroom that could be opned by a single indervidual.[652]

The Princes Thronroom itself was a long and vaulted chamber at the center of which was a long table at the ehad of which was the Princes Throne. Behind the throne is a curtained partition.

Of the rest of the palaces interior little is described beyond there being a single rooftop exit from which the city can be viewed, making the initial assesment by most that the tower has only one entrance or exit false.

"The palace tower rose like a spear, wreathed in banners of ghostly smoke. The dark, colourless stone dulled the bright sunlight bathing it. Three hundred and thiery-nine winding steps led up the tower's interior, to emerge onto an open platform with a peacked roof of copper tiles that showed no sign of verdigris. The Wind howled between the columns the roof and the smooth stone platform, yet the tower did not sway." [690, Memories of Ice UKBantem Edition 2002]
