Kalse was an Eleint.

In Midnight Tides[]

Udinaas and Feather Witch accidentally travelled to the Refugium where they met the Imass, Ulshun Pral, and the boy, Rud Elalle. Ulshan Pral spoke of a Hold the two Letherii had never heard of called Starvald Demelain. In an attempt to explain, he listed the names of many of its notable denizens including Kalse. He finished by calling them "Eleint. Draconean. Dragons. The Pure Dragons."[1]

In The Bonehunters[]

Edgewalker followed Cotillion to a circle of standing stones in Kurald Emurlahn where three dragons were chained. Cotillion bargained with Edgewalker for the name of the three and Edgewalker gave them as Kalse, Ampelas, and Eloth. Being offered the potential of freedom, the dragons were willing to talk with him. It transpired that they had tried to conquer the Realm of Shadow in order to heal it, but were thwarted by Anomander Rake, who insisted on keeping the Throne of Shadow unclaimed. The dragons spoke of having acted on behalf of K'rul whose blood was growing sickly and Ampelas declared that he himself had shaped the Blood in the paths of Emurlahn leading Cotillion to ponder whether dragons might be the flavours of K'rul's blood.[2]

Apsalar, Telorast, and Curdle entered Shadow to cross the waters of the A'rath Strait. In place of the water was a forested valley of the Tiste Edur. A section of the forest had been toppled by a conflict involving dragons, which Apsalar attributed to the ones now imprisoned within the stone circle. Telorast confirmed her reasoning.[3]

Kalse's aspect was Omtose Phellack.[citation needed]

In Dust of Dreams[]

A K'Chain Che'Malle skykeep was named Kalse Rooted after him.[4]

In The Crippled God[]

Spoiler warning: The following section contains significant plot details about Kalse.

Shadowthrone gifted Silchas Ruin a Hust sword to which Kalse, Ampelas, and Eloth were chained. The three dragons fought alongside Silchas and Tulas Shorn against the storm of dragons which sought to tear apart Korabas. They bought Korabas enough time to reach the barrow she sought and briefly taste freedom.

Significant plot details end here.
