Duke Kenussen D'Avore was a historical figure, a member of the House of K’azz D’Avore who fought a battle against the Royal Untan army in around 1060 BS. He was likely related to Prince K'azz D'Avore and there is some speculation that the two might even be identical given the age of the Prince and supposed timeline for the inception of the Crimson Guard.[1]

Felisin Paran recalled how her sister Tavore Paran as a child reenacted the century old battle between the house of K'azz D'Avore, and the Untan army, taking on the role of Duke Kenussen who was reputed to have been a military genius. Despite that, the rebelling army had been destroyed and the house subjugated. According to the accounts available, their army had been trapped in a steep sided valley through a series of unfortunate incidents, which led to the Duke's defeat. Military experts agreed that there was no way the Duke could have prevented the outcome.[2] The valley in question was likely Ibilar Gorge.[3]
