There were two Malazan 6th Armies, the original army sent to Korel, and the second one, seen on Genabackis.

The original 6th Army[]

Around 1134 BS, part of the original 6th Army was sent to Korel as an invading force under the command of High Fist Greymane, but the High Fist was ultimately undermined and disgraced by his forces. A young Rillish Jal Keth was among the officers who testified against him.[1]

After conquering the local population, the majority of the remaining Malazans decided that they would much rather keep any taxes being collected for the Empire. Yeull 'ul Taith declared himself Overlord of Fist and installed himself in Fortress Paliss.

The 'other' 6th Army[]

In the eighth year of the Genabackis Campaign, the Free Cities allied themselves with the Crimson Guard and others. According to the historian Imrygyn Tallobant, in that year the Malazan Forces under the command of High Fist Dujek Onearm consisted of the 2nd, 5th and 6th Armies, as well as legions of Moranth.[2]

The 2nd and the Malaz 6th Army were the main combatants at the Siege of Pale and part of the force invading Genabackis. Most of the members of both armies were recruited from the Seven Cities subcontinent.[3] After sustaining heavy losses in the final battle of the siege, the 6th Army was disbanded and the remnants assimilated into the 5th Army.[4]
