N'Gorm the Lesser had been previously King of Farrog. King N'Gorm was considered by a number of people to have been not only ineffectual, but had, in fact, been "excruciatingly useless" as a ruler.[1]

The policies of N'Gorm - with regard to the neighboring Empire of Nightmaria - were viewed as being examples of pure appeasement. It was thought that the extreme timidity of King N'Gorm had led him to try and placate the Nightmarians as much as was possible as he was greatly intimidated by them. By granting Nightmaria unreasonably generous concessions as to "tolls and tithes" - sources of income which should have provided a steady stream of revenue from trade for Farrog - but, because of the actions of King N'Gorm, filled the coffers of the Empire instead.[2]

In The Fiends of Nightmaria[]

However, Farrog's attitude and fiscal policies toward Nightmaria changed drastically upon the usurpation of the throne of N'Gorm by the necromancer, Bauchelain.[3]

Bauchelain not only declared himself King of Farrog, but also beheaded N'Gorm with but a single sweep of his exceedingly sharp sword. This single sword stroke, which cleanly separated the head of N'Gorm from his body, so impressed the Royal Torturer, Binfun - who was usually also executioner - that Binfun kept the desiccated severed head of N'Gorm hanging from a hook in his chambers in the Royal Palace of Farrog where he could easily see it, apparently as inspiration.[4]
