Darujhistan

Quip's Bar was a dimly lit, ramshackle bar made of cut sandstone in the Lakefront District of Darujhistan.[1][2][3] It leaned backwards and sagged against the Second Tier Wall amidst a collection of wood and plaster tenements, shops, and squatter shacks built from driftwood and hull planks washed ashore from wrecks on Mole's Reef.[4][2] Its clientele was mostly shipmen and fisher-hands.[2]

Run by Quip Younger, it had been founded by his father "in a fit of ambition and optimism that had lasted a week."[1]

To the right of the bar's entrance was a narrow, sloped cobblestone street.[5]

In Gardens of the Moon[]

Fiddler was playing a game using a Deck of Dragons in Quip's Bar which was interrupted by the arrival of Lorn. He told her that the squad had the backroom and that he and Hedge had dug through the seven-foot thick wall from there into an abandoned house on the Daru side, referring to the passage as their "back door".[6]

Whiskeyjack and Lorn used the room to discuss sensitive matters. Upon conclusion of their discussion, he pulled aside a tattered hanging on the back wall, revealing the tunnel entrance. He advised Lorn that it would take her unseen into the Daru District. Made in a condescending tone, he thus insured that Lorn would not use the tunnel.[7]

In House of Chains[]

Torvald Nom mentioned Quip's Bar after Karsa Orlong killed a shark and pulled a dead man from its belly, imagining telling the tale to disbelieving friends there.[8]

In Toll the Hounds[]

Master Quell's latest expedition with the Trygalle Trade Guild unexpectedly ended outside the doors of Quip's Bar. Once they collected themselves, Quell, Faint, Glanno Tarp, Reccanto Ilk, and Sweetest Sufferance made their way into the bar for a round of ale.[9]
