Scamper was an old two-legged dog belonging to Grisp Falaunt, who dwelt in a shack on the northern edge of the Dwelling Plain south of Darujhistan.[1][2] Scamper had a ratty, knobby tail and beady eyes.[1] Grisp considered him useless because the farmer had to hand-feed the dog the same rats he was meant to catch and kill.[1]

In Toll the Hounds[]

On the final night of the Gedderone Fête, when powerful forces converged on Darujhistan, Grisp noticed Scamper whimpering and piddling as the dog dragged itself under the porch. Then the Hounds of Shadow appeared from nowhere to trample Grisp's crops and burst through his shack on their way to the city. Two Hounds snapped at his head in passing and Grisp survived only by falling backwards on his chair. He had enough time to see Scamper hiding beneath the porch before the Hounds burst through the gate of Darujhistan, sending a shock wave that collapsed the rest of his home atop the dog.[3]

In Orb Sceptre Throne[]

Grisp rebuilt his shack into a lean-to of broken lumber and canvas and he had succeeded in growing a single row of turnips. Beneath his meagre crop was buried the body of Scamper, whose heart had been burst by the same "devil-dogs" who had broken his "fine cabin". Grisp considered the dog to have been his last loyal friend.[4]
