The Shadow cult was a sect of assassins steeped in sorcery and devoted to the worship of the Warren of Shadow.[1][2] They were deadly rivals of the Claws and included several renegades as members.[3] Two or three nights every century they controlled Malaz Island during the Shadow Moon and conducted their worship and blood rites in the Mossy Tors Park in Malaz City.[4]
Shadow cultists dressed in grey and could communicate silently through hand signals.[5]
In Night of Knives
During the Shadow Moon of 1154 BS, the shadow cult served Dancer, the Malazan master assassin. They guarded the Malaz City Deadhouse from the interference of Surly's claws and diverted the attention of the house's guards while Kellanved and Dancer slipped into the house from the back.
