Shanks was the ship's carpenter of the Jacuruku vessel the Serpent.[1]
In Blood and Bone[]
Shanks served aboard the Serpent which was the ship that took K'azz D'Avore, Shimmer, and five other Crimson Guard Avowed from their headquarters at Haven to Jacuruku. During the crossing of Explorer's Sea, the ship was damaged by a submerged ice crag. Shanks was sent below decks with his apprentices to inspect the damage and reported that the repairs could not be completed at sea. Soon after, a floating ice field was spotted where the ship was dragged ashore and repaired.[2]
