- See The Spires for the Red Spires
The Spire (also called Great Spire[1]) was a unique formation of rock that stretched out high above the water on the east coast of Kolanse, on a peninsula just southeast of Kolanse City. The waters around the promontory were red as blood and nothing could live in it. It was said that a star fell from the sky there, long ago[2]. The waters were also described as raging into foaming spume the colour of mare's milk[3].
Steep stairs of weathered pumice steps were carved into the crater's ravaged flanks and to one side the slope fell away to a sheer cliff. It had a narrow, treacherous isthmus on the inland side.[4]
Set on top of the Spire was the Altar of Judgment. "Heat bloomed up and out from the crater's mouth surrounding the Spire, rank with sulphurs."[5]
In The Crippled God[]
It was revealed that the Spire was the resting place of the Crippled God's heart, and the location of the Chainings that the Gods had been participating in since the Crippled God's descent. The Battle of the Spire occurred at the Spire's feet.
