Sty was a High Marshal in the Mott Irregulars.[1] He was described as a tall, awkward looking man with a lopsided toothy smile and large bony fists.[2]
Sty and the Irregulars fought against the Malazan Empire in the Mott Campaign and later joined forces against the Malazans with the Warlord Caladan Brood.[3]
In Memories of Ice[]
Despite orders to stay behind at Blackdog Forest, the Mott Irregulars accompanied Brood's army when he allied with renegade Malazan High Fist Dujek Onearm to fight the Pannion War. After liberating Capustan, the two armies converged at Maurik before crossing the river of the same name and marching on Coral.
Gruntle, Stonny, and Itkovian encountered Sty at the river crossing as Brood's Rhivi allies herded their Bhederin across. Sty asked for their help in communicating with the herders as he did not speak Rhivi. He and the other Irregulars had been getting into fights over ownership of the bhederin's dung, and he had spent all night by the river eying the pile the Rhivi were gathering. As Gruntle attempted negotiation, Sty knocked out the lone guard and made off with his hefty treasure bundled in his shirt.[2]
