Swillstine was a manservant to Trooth the Dint, one of the necromancers who made up The Tearful Three. Along with Abercrass and Zwalt, his fellow manservants at the necromancers' stronghold, he was a member of the Grand Union of Manservancy and had been inspired to take up the position by the example of Emancipor Reese.[1]

Swillstine had very little going on in his head and he preferred it that way. He liked things simple, concentrating on doing what he was told and not making life more complicated than it needed to be.[2] His master, Trooth, was aggravated by Swillstine's lofty amusement at everything and several times a day had to bite back thoughts of dragging the manservant's organs out through his nose.[3]

In Upon a Dark of Evil Overlords

Swillstine, Abercrass, and Zwalt were assigned to assist Castellan Bilious Drought with organising and arming the ten thousand undead that formed the Terrible Three's army.[4] The necromancers plotted to capture the town of Earbeford that lay below their hillside keep. But the town council soon hired Bauchelain and Korbal Broach to protect them.[5]

On the day the army faced across the field with Bauchelain and Korbal Broach, Swillstine stood at Trooth's side near the keep.[6] He envied his fellow manservants as their respective master and mistress, Nog the Furbious and Pwet Terse, both seemed on the edge of expiring naturally. Swillstine daydreamed that the day would end with the three manservants taking over the Terrible Three's possessions and becoming rich.[7]

When Bauchelain advanced on the undead army with his flaming longsword, the undead parted in fear allowing him to reach the Three. Nog attempted to stop Bauchelain's advance by sacrificing Pwet Terse's tetanus-stricken body at his feet. Bauchelain stepped over the paralyzed woman as Korbal Broach killed Nog from above. When Trooth attempted to parley, Bauchelain decapitated him with his flaming sword. Swillstine could not stop smiling in fear even as Bauchelain cut the manservant in half.[8]
