Talo Krafar was an assassin of Jurrig Denatte's Clan[1] of the Darujhistan Assassins' Guild. He was described as a bull of a man[2] with a broad, crooked nose and dark eyes.[3] His son was Seba Krafar.
Talo used a crossbow, normally strapped to his back, with the quarrels sheathed on his left leg.[4]
In Gardens of the Moon
Whilst on a routine nightly patrol as a Roamer, he found himself the target of another assassin. Wounded by a cross-bow quarrel hitting and going all the way through his left shoulder, he later mistook Crokus for his stalker and tried to kill him, but his crossbow quarrel missed the young man as the latter leaned down to pick up a coin.[5]
Distracted and dumbfounded that he had missed, Talo did not notice that someone had appeared behind him. He was killed with two long, grooved daggers in the chest and his body and crossbow were thrown off the platform.[6]
It transpired that his pursuers had been Tiste Andii assassin mages under Serrat who were trying to eliminate the guild at the behest of Anomander Rake.[7][8]
