Commander Torn was the Moranth attaché to the Malazan Forces in Darujhistan[1] and a Red veteran. His blood-hued chitinous armor bore a skein of scars and gouges from combat.[2]

He met Ambassador Aragan in his capacity as an attache to ask if the Malazans would help the Moranth keep an eye on the burial grounds south of Darujhistan, a request Aragan agreed to.[3]
Later, Torn, Aragan, and Torvald Nom met to try and discuss an alliance against the Legate and his Seguleh defenders.
As the initial assault on Darujhistan's Majesty Hill was underway, Torn unveiled the alternative plans that the Moranth had at hand; bombing the entire city using Moranth munitions. Arguing with Aragan that the Legate had never negotiated and had destroyed Moranth colonies in the old times, he confidently declared that the Tyrant would never offer terms or negotiate in any way; he would either destroy them or be destroyed. Aragan was left feeling helpless against the impending slaughter that would destroy Darujhistan and all its inhabitants.[4]
Torn finally called off the attack when they received the signal to back down from Galene.[5]
